Garrett Gerloff finished fifth in the second World Superbike race at the Misano Circuit in Italy on Sunday.

GRT Yamaha WorldSBK’s Garrett Gerloff ended his weekend at the Misano Circuit in Italy with a fighting fifth-place finish in race two, the Texan coming from eighth on the grid after finishing eighth in the morning Superpole race.

Superbike race two was won by Pata Yamaha with BRIXX’s Topak Razgatlioglu, the Turk passing Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s Michael Ruben Rinaldi mid-race and beating the Italian, who won race one and the Superpole race, by 1.2 seconds. Six-time World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea rounded out the podium in third place, 2.9 seconds behind Razgatlioglu.

Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s Scott Redding finished fourth in race two with Gerloff closing to 1.5 seconds of the Brit at the finish after disposing of Kawasaki Racing Team’s Alex Lowes a few laps from the end.

Gerloff finished eighth in the morning Superpole race after starting from the back row.

Rea now leads Razgatlioglu by 20 points, 149-129, in the championship point standings. Redding is third with 104 points, Lowes is next with 88, followed by Rinaldi’s 82 and Gerloff’s 59.
